Welcome to North Borough Junior School
We started off with a 0-0 draw against St.John's, which we should've won We had loads of chances but we just couldn't score! We then played Snodland, who beat us 1-0. The boys battled well but just couldn't find a way through. Snodland ended up winning the whole thing! We then defeated Senacre 2-0, we should've won by more but we had two great goals from Theo and Albie. We then had one more game in our group which we had to win to give ourselves any chance of making it into the knockouts, but once again drew 0-0 against Roseacre. Five Points from four games unfortunately wasn't quite enough for us to go through but I'm incredibly proud of the boys. Their behaviour on the day was exceptional and they have done the school and themselves proud. They battled well and work hard for each other, which is all we can ask.
We then rounded off the afternoon playing three friendlies in a Round Robin tournament, just like last week for the Year 3's and 4's. The highlight was beating Brunswick (who made it to knockouts and got knocked out). The boys went 2-0 down and battled back to win 3-2!
They all deserve a big congratulations as they were all fabulous. A special mention goes to Joseph (captain): he lead by example and kept cheering the boys on, encouraging them, and was the voice we needed on the pitch to motivate and help. A special mention also goes to Kenzo: outstanding play from him all round today with his unselfish, hardworking ethic. He was the glue that held it all together in the middle of the pitch.
Today, 18th November, saw the start of a brand new Primary football league, which is a result of the success of our Lionesses and shows just how football is fast becoming the top sport for girls in the country. Our LKS2 girls played their first ever league game, and first ever game togethe,r and for some their first ever football match, against Barming Primary this afternoon.
It was cold, and wet and already quite dark by the time we had battled through the traffic to get to Barming. Due to arriving late our girls had no time to practice and after a quick jog went straight on to play the match. The match was very even with both sides having plenty of time with the ball. The first goal went to Barming after their striker went one on one with our keeper (Betty) and scored from close range. The NBJS girls were not rattled though and came back even stronger, making great tackles and strong runs and chasing the ball down quickly. We soon equalised with a great strike from Annabel!
We also prevented Barming from scoring after a great save from Betty, which meant the match remained equal. With the light fading fast we made a change and Fenna Leek, in her first ever football match bravely went into goal, which would allow Betty some time on the pitch. We continued to battle and Fenna made a great save and showed us that she’s got a safe pair of hands! The girls kept on attacking and battling with great tackles from Esther A and Coco and some fantastic runs from Anastasia, Annabel and Betty. Eventually the pressure from NBJS was too strong and Betty scored a lovely goal in the bottom corner!! The timing couldn’t have been anymore perfect as almost immediately the final whistle blew and the NBJS girls WON!!!!!!! 2-1!!
Well done girls battling through the traffic was worth it!!
After school, Mrs Barling took a team of girls to South Borough to compete in a league game for the Maidstone Schoo'ls League.
It was feezing cold and very muddy but the girls didn’t seem to be bothered; as soon as the whistle went the girls didn’t waste anytime getting stuck into the game. They passed well, dribbled like pro’s and battled hard against a very tall South Borough team. Half way through the first half, Johanna Rose managed to put the ball into the back of the net after the goal keeper couldn’t quite reach it! 1-0 to NBJS!
After out first goal, South Borough appeared to be getting stronger and managed to get a goal back, breaking our hearts a little. 1-1.
Half time - a quick team talk and confidence boost and then they were back on!
The second half saw us getting stronger- we battled just as hard and didn’t give up. Suddenly, we found a way through their defence with some great balls from Senuli and Lexi and Lexie, which allowed us to set Lexie free to take the keeper on and score a lovely goal in the top corner! 2-1 to NBJS!
The game continued: more battling and great tackling from Annabelle in defence, and Daniela, Lola and Tilly in midfield – all girls pitching in to maintain our lead. A great double save from Betty kept us at 2-1, but then, with 5 minutes to go, Senuli set off and managed to curl the ball into the back of the net from what looked like an impossible angle! 3-1 North Borough!
A great team performance which showed how much more confident, skilful and determined they have become.
Well done girls!
On Thursday, we were able to take our year 5 and 6 children to compete in the Primary School sports hall athletic event at Aylesford Secondary school. It's an exciting event which involves all children participating in at least two running and two field events (jumping and throwing) each.
The boys started off with the running races; all ran very well and were very competitive running their fastest, and were successful winning the relay races and the obstacle races. Meanwhile, the girls were competing in the field events, jumping as far and high as they could, throwing foam javelins and chest pushing a basketball for the furthest distance. The furthest distance of the girls long jump was achieved by Ellisiyah and Lexi, who proved that kangaroos have nothing on them!
After all of the events were completed they then swapped with boys jumping and throwing and the girls running as fast as possible. Both the boys and the girls were successful with the girls winning the majority of the running races and the boys managing to secure some of the longest jumps and throws.
After such an exciting event the children were asked to sit down in the school groups and wait for the results, there were medals available for the top three teams, we knew we had performed our best but...
WE CAME THIRD PLACE AND WERE GIVEN BRONZE MEDALS!
Well done to everyone who participated and represented the school, you should all be very proud of yourselves!
The children competed in separate boys and girls competitions doing a mix of field-type activities and running events. The field activities were speed bounce, standing long jump, 5-stride long jump, foam javelin and chest push amongst others. The running activities were mainly sprint-based with a mix of straight sprinting and obstacle races.
The boys competed in the running events first and were very competitive! They all ran very well and showed excellent confidence and sportsmanship, and managed to come a solid second in all of the races which is excellent! At the same time the girls were competing in the field-based activities with everyone trying their best and really striving for the longest and furthest distances. Two girls achieved the longest 5-stride jumps of the day, which were Annabelle and Betty sharing first place! 🥇 🥇
Once all of the activities are compete the children swap over and it was the girls turn to run and the boys were now throwing and jumping. We took a first place again with Ronnie jumping further than his own height and eveyone else at the same time! 🥇 Meanwhile the girls set off with fire in their bellies competing in the running races. The strength, determination and shear desire to win was impressive and also meant that the girls won 4 or 5 (the result for one race hasn’t been confirmed yet but it was extremely close!) out of the 6 races they competed in!
We are still awaiting the overall result for which school won the whole event but it was a very successful night out for our children and a very long, hectic but extremely enjoyable and proud night for myself and Mr Philips!
Well done years 3 & 4, you were all amazing!!! 🥇
