Welcome to North Borough Junior School
Mrs Barling and Mr Howland took the year 3 and 4 football to South Borough last night for a match. This was only their second match and a few different faces were in the team. We also had two girls representing year 4, Bea and Annabel, who stood their ground and battled their hearts out and gave the boys a good game.
We started quickly and the team got stuck straight in, tackling, passing and dribbling the ball around. We were full of confidence and it showed in our play. North Borough had plenty of chances and the pressure finally paid off with a goal from Kayson who was making his debut for the team! We had a few scuffles near our goal but Bea stood her ground and kept the ball out of the net.
After a half time team talk reminding them to mark individually, cover the midfield area and keep tight at the back, the team surged on. We continued in the same way that we finished the first half, playing well together as a team, with a great energy and determination. South Borough came back at us and put the pressure on, but the team stayed tight and determined and with some great saves, goal line clearances and excellent football we kept the ball out of the net!!
North Borough won an epic battle with brilliant football, guts and determination, 1-0! Well done, everyone.
Today (6th March 2025) was our first fixture of Term 4 and only the second game for our lower keys stage 2 girls with one girl (Evie) playing in her first ever football match. The match kicked off and looked to be quite even at the start, however once the nerves had settled NBJS took control and had the majority of play and managed to hit the post. Our pressure soon paid off as Annabel took the ball and confidently dribbled down the pitch and slotted the ball past the Greenfields keeper!! This goal helped us to finish the first half 1-0 up!!!
The second half saw one of our brave year 4s step into the goalkeeper position which allowed Bea to come out and run at the Greenfield defence. Now that everyone understood what was required and had developed a stronger desire to win, NBJS continued to run and terrorise Greenfields. We had many chances on goal which went narrowly wide and the all of the girls were tackling fiercely on the pitch. In goal, our new goalkeeper was very brave when faced with an attacker running at her with the ball, but she showed great courage, stood her ground and saved the ball!! Lots of great passing and dribbling from all of the girls allowed Bea to take the ball and slot three more goals (one of which was a penalty) past the Greenfields goalie, and Annabel converted a cross into the back of the net for our fifth goal of the night!
A great team effort, the girls didn’t give up once. I’m a very proud PE Teacher; a special thank you to Mr Howland for being our cheerleader tonight. Well done to all of the girls; they made us all and themselves very proud.
The boys team went to Allington last night, who are top of the League, and managed to pull out a very gritty 0-0 draw. They were absolutely brilliant! They worked hard and could have nicked something in the end. A massive well done in particular to Henry who was flawless all night. He possesses a fantastic throw; his technique providing an extra threat throughout the game! A big menton to Albert as well, who stepped in as captain last night and did a stellar job! A big well done to all of the team: JJ, Henry, Ethan, Theo, Albert, Alfie, Joshua and Adrian.
