Welcome to North Borough Junior School
Hello everyone. The kitchen at St Paul's where our school lunches are cooked has no gas! They have one cooker working for lunches across both schools. This means they are most likely to be providing cold packed lunches for children today.
Huge apologies for the late notice, however, I know that some of you would prefer to provide your child with their own packed lunch. It will be too late for some of you for today, however this is likely to be the case for tomorrow as well.
Thank you
Dear Mums, Dads and Carers,
We are moving the disco a little further back as Covid is still so prevalent at the moment. Not only does this add a risk, but it means we will struggle to staff it.
Our aim now is to hold it on Thursday 10th February. I will keep you updated if this has to change. We will tell the children in assembly tomorrow, (but please feel free to share this with them today).
I would also like to thank you for all your kind offers of help whilst we are short staffed, I really appreciate it.
Kind regards,
Mrs Chiverton

Year 5 Careers Fair
This morning, lucky year 5 children were given the opportunity to meet and discuss a range of career opportunities from some fabulous volunteers within the school community. Thinking about future career paths and setting goals to achieve these are essential and children engaged very maturely with the professionals to learn more about what it takes to achieve these goals. Careers ranging from software and aviation engineering, midwifery and library technicians to archaeology, laboratory technicians and medical device engineering were all on hand to discuss their careers and what it takes to do these jobs professionally. Year 5 children will now use these discussions as the starting point for a careers-themed project, using these careers and researching further to produce a written piece demonstrating what they have learned.
Today would not have been possible without the year 5 team and children, who have worked hard to plan this into the curriculum and who behaved so sensibly and engaged fantastically with the day. It would, of course, also not have been possible if not for the volunteers who gave of their time and expertise to inspire the children present. They all spoke passionately and really engaged the children. North Borough are very grateful for the time and energy you all gave today. Thank you.
This is the first event of its kind at North Borough and one we hope to grow in future years.
April was the month of the military child and in recognition of this, on Friday 26th April, Purple Up Day, staff at North Borough donned purple clothing to celebrate. Children were spoken to about the important role forces children play within their families and the armed forces. Children of those serving in the military shared some of their experiences, wrote poems to present and shared the artwork they created.
Well done to everyone that contributed - North Borough is very proud of the military children at our school and grateful for all they and their families do.
