Welcome to North Borough Junior School. We have a warm, dedicated and friendly staff team who have high expectations of achievement and behaviour. We believe that creating the right educational environment allows each child to aim for the very best they can.

The school is in a time of innovation and change as we develop a curriculum and range of teaching styles that is based on the needs and interests of our children. We know that sometimes children learn better outside of the classroom and always learn better when the learning is engaging and fun. We work hard to develop our children as risk takers in their learning and design activities to build their self-esteem in order that they achieve the highest standards they are capable of.

We have a diverse mix of children and families and enjoy the richness that this brings to our school. We celebrate each individual and encourage each child to be proud of what makes them unique. We know that in order to develop the best environment for learning it is vital that we develop close working partnerships with the families of our children. There are many opportunities for you to meet with teachers throughout the year, in both a formal and an informal way. We also encourage parental involvement in school wherever possible.

Our pupils are happy, safe and well-motivated. They show respect for themselves and each other. They are proud of the high standards they reach and how hard they work in School. NBJS Careers Fair

On Thursday 22nd May, children in year 5 were treated to visitors from a range of careers who spoke with them about their area of expertise. Children were inquisitive and enthusiastic as they asked about skills, qualifications and pay, amongst many other things. The day was all about encouraging children to think about their passions and where they may want to go in the future; to give them ideas and ambitions, and some guidance on how to reach them. The children came dressed to impress, donning their business attire or wearing outfits for their prospective careers, and had a fantastic day thanks to our willing volunteers. Thank you to everyone who gave their time for the children and for sharing your knowledge and passion so enthusiastically. The day would not have been possible without you and the children, and North Borough, are extremely grateful.

NBJS Pyjamas Day

Billy, in year 6, who has been moved by the issue of homelessness in the UK, has independently raised money for a charity called 'Score A Bed'. The charity has since asked him to become an ambassador for their charity and he has made a commitment to them to continue fundraising.

To support with this he organised a fundraising day in school where the children could wear their pyjamas to school for the donation of £1 or what ever they could afford to donate. The event took place on Tuesday 20th June. Billy led an assembly, educating children on damaging effects of homelessness and his passion to help. Children arrived at school dressed in a fabulous range of pyjamas, dressing gowns and slippers, as did the teachers, not wanting to be outdone! 

Across the Federation, Billy raised a whopping £700 for 'Score a Bed', all the proceeds of which will go towards helping those without beds and homes. Well done, Billy! We are so proud of you!

West Borough Girls vs. North Borough Girls - 27.03.25

The year 5 and 6 girls went to take on West Borough Primary in the primary league, Thursday night. They started brightly, running and tackling hard with their usual energy and pace. It didn’t take long before Lexi (who had an extra spring in her step after weeks of being confined to crutches) went on the run and scored! The girls then continued this form throughout the first half with Lexie scoring a further two goals to claim her hat trick! The half time whistle blew and it was 3-0 North Borough!
 
At half time, Mrs Barling made a few changes and Etana came in to defence, making her football debut! Going down hill in the second half was extremely helpful as everyone was very hot and getting tired. However, despite the heat and tired legs, the girls battled on, making great tackles, passing well and, most importantly, scoring goals. The girls went on a goal feast, with Lexie furthering her hat trick to a double hat trick (6 goals for those that don’t know), Senuli was hot on her tail and bagged herself 5 goals, and Johanna also got on the scoring with one goal! 
 
With such a convincing score line, the decision was made that it was safe enough to allow Bea to come out on to pitch and Lola once again stepped in to take her place in goal. A minor scuffle and lack of concentration allowed West Borough to score, but we were determined to not to allow any more and stepped up our defending. 
 
All in all, a great afternoon's football played by all, with an amazing final score of 12-1 to North Borough! Well done girls! We now march on to our cup game against Barming next Wednesday. It’s not going to be easy but we have got faith in this determined and very talented bunch of girls!!

Allington Boys vs. North Borough Boys - 27.03.25

The boys team went to Allington last night, who are top of the League, and managed to pull out a very gritty 0-0 draw. They were absolutely brilliant! They worked hard and could have nicked something in the end. A massive well done in particular to Henry who was flawless all night. He possesses a fantastic throw; his technique providing an extra threat throughout the game! A big menton to Albert as well, who stepped in as captain last night and did a stellar job! A big well done to all of the team: JJ, Henry, Ethan, Theo, Albert, Alfie, Joshua and Adrian.

North Borough Girls vs. St John's Girls - 13.03.25

Last night, North Borough played hosts to St John’s Primary school who were unknown to us as a team, so we were wary! Our chips were already down before the game, as we only had six players due to having two Lexies on the injury bench who currently possess only two fully working legs between them! Thankfully, St John’s agreed to play 6vs6, which is a tough ask as our pitch is so large!  However, despite the adversity, the girls were ready and prepared for a good game; Mr Philips had kindly agreed to be our ref and keep things fair on the pitch. 
 
We started brightly and took the lead within the first 5-minutes ,with an absolute scorcher of a goal from Senuli who calmly put the ball just over the keepers head! 1-0!! 
 
Straight back into the game and the girls are playing well but St John’s are beginning to fight back. After a NBJS goal kick, St John’s attacked and managed to slot a ball past us to equal the scoring! 1-1! 
 
Mrs Guy by this time had joined the crowd and was willing the girls on! The extra support was welcome and always needed! 
We went straight back in, battling hard as the girls always do. After various battles, Senuli received the ball in the area, twisted and turned her way through the defence and, with cheeky little turn, managed to curl the ball into the back of the net!! A beautiful, skilful goal!! 2-1 - NBJS!! 
 
Half time came and went and North Borough were excited to be winning but, knowing that this is a close game, the girls returned to the pitch with victory in their sights! Sadly, we conceded a corner early on and somehow the cross flew into the back of the net! All square: 2-2!
 
Something needed to change: Bea needed a break from goalkeeping and we desperately needed a replacement. Thankfully, the star of the hour came up and unselfishly offered to replace Bea in goal. This girl had NEVER been in goal before but put her team mates before her own fears and stepped up! Thank you Lola! The kindness and support that she showed was fantastic; this wasn’t something she had to do or was even asked to do, she just offered because she could see that Bea needed a break from goalkeeping.
 
The change in keeper gave us a new lease of life. With fresh energy on the pitch, the girls tackled and fought their way back and Senuli scored again! 3-2!
 
North Borough quickly scored again after a few memorable moments: Annabel’s awesome sliding tackle, Lola’s screams of “Make a walk!!”, Johanna’s endless running, Daniela’s great boot from defence and Bea's energy and passing! Senuli then went and scored again! 4-2!! 
 
Mrs Guy and Miss Foad were going mad; Mr Howland had also joined us. The excitement was growing in the crowd! Thankfully, our energy stayed high for the rest of the game, and we managed to score a fifth after a goalkeeping mishap! The score line was thankfully not even affected by a controversial refereeing decision by Mr Philips! Even St John’s were laughing!
 
Final score - North Borough 5, St John's 2! 
 
A special thanks to everyone who came and watched our girls battle away in the hail, rain and freezing conditions. Special mention to Lola for her amazing display of empathy and kindness and also to Lexi-Mae who supported her team mates despite being unable to play!
