Letters About Transition

Please find below letter and information we have sent out regarding Year 2 Transition.

 Transition Throughout the Year

Our transition timetable for Term 5 and 6 can be found below. This includes dates where your child will visit North Borough to get to know the school and staff.

If your child is joining us in Year 3 from a different school, please get in touch with the school office to discuss which transition events your child can attend.

Transition From the Previous Year

Term 6

All Year 2 pupils are invited to our Summer Beach Disco on Friday 8th July. The disco starts at 5pm and ends at 6:30pm. Disco tickets will be on sale before and after school at the gate all of this week (4th-8th July). They are also available at the school office.

Our Year 5 pupils organised a sports afternoon for Year 2 this week. The Year 2 children said how much they enjoyed the different activities set out for them. It's also been lovely to have them over to North Borough for playtime and has allowed them to get to know their buddy a little better. We're looking forward to seeing them next week for Transition Week!

The Year 2 children came over to North Borough this term to have a tour with their Year 5 buddies! The Year 2 teachers have reported that the children felt a lot less nervous and more excited about coming to North Borough in September, following their tours. The Year 5 buddies did a fantastic job of showing the children around the school and answering all of their questions.

Transition in Term 5

This term, the Year 2 children have been visited by Mrs Wakefield, our Deputy Headteacher and Mrs Chiverton, our Headteacher. The children had prepared lots of questions for both visitors using fact files they had shared with the children. Mrs Chiverton also took over our school dog, Angus! The children were very quiet for him and asked lots of great questions!

Transition in Term 4

Last term we invited Year 2 over to North Borough to share how we celebrated World Book Day. The Year 2 children also had a tour of the school, looking at the story setting art work each class has created. Later in the term they came back to have a look at the Roman work the Year 3 children had created. They put on another gallery and talked about their work.

Transition in Term 2

This term the Year 2 children have visited North Borough to attend Year 3's Stone Age Gallery. It was lovely to see the Year 3 pupils speak confidently about their work and were very knowledgeable about the Stone Age.

Arriving at school

Your journey into North Borough if you're    visiting the school office.

You'll most likely see Mrs Borland in the office. She is very friendly and can help you with lots of things, including school dinners, uniform or finding out about clubs.

This will be your normal route into school in the morning once you have settled in. You can say goodbye to your adult at the gate and come into school with your friends. Miss Taylor will be waiting at the door for you with her very smiley face.

Our Classrooms

Here are our Year 3 classrooms. They were all named after famous landmarks this year but will have new names next year.

Can you spot the Roman shields the children made this year?

All of the Year 3 classrooms are next to each other.

Around the School

Here is our school hall. We meet in here for assemblies and have lunch in here.

This is our lovely library. You will get to borrow a book from here each week.

This is the Thrive hut. Miss Taylor works in here and does activities with children.

Our Outdoor Areas

This is the top playground. This is where you can spend some of your time during breaktime and lunchtime. We have markings on this playground to help you run, walk or skip the Daily Mile

This is the quiet area. The Nurture team are in this area to help with any problems you may have on the playground. This is a nice , quiet shady spot to relax in, especially on sunny days.

This part of the playground is the outdoor classroom where you may spend time with your teacher, learning outdoors. You'll also find our outdoor gym and trim trail which can be played on at breaktime and lunchtime. You can also see the middle and bottom playground here. This is where you can play sports with an adult at breaktime and lunchtime.

Here is the journey you will take to go down onto the school field.

We are so lucky to have such a large school field! This is where we play lots of sports and enjoy lunchtimes in the summer.
